Often when we find ourselves in such a hurry we tend to forget to eat right, get our eight hours of sleep, work out, and drink the recommended daily water intake! Well for me, here recently after nine months of being in grad school, Marcos reminded me that I needed to refocus on getting more sleep, working out, and eating right as well as doing the things I love such as journaling, blogging, book writing, and reading my bible. It has been effecting me physically and psychologically by not doing these things.
Marcos probably knows me better than anyone, besides my parents and brother, and knows that taking care of my health is very important to me as well as doing things I love; such as my love for journaling, blogging, book writing, and reading my bible. Doing these things feds my body goodness. He reminded me that I needed to get back to these roots, so that I can get back to my goals in life in order to get my body feeling well again.

My Passion for Writing
Ever since I was a little girl I have always enjoyed writing/journaling about my daily life ups and downs. I've got about 20 journals that are filled with all of my stories - the good and bad times - along with many doctors notes from my previous surgeries. For the past three years now, because I have these journals and doctors notes, I have been fully able and in the process of writing an inspriational book based on my life challenges and lessons learned. Writing is what fuels me. It gives my soul purpose in which to share my story with others. It gives me happiness and joy. And because I have journaled consistently throughout my life, that is what is going to help me finish my book this coming year.
With over two decades experience of journaling on a daily basis, I have learned that it not only takes the million thoughts I have going on in my creative mind and puts it onto paper, but it also helps me stay sane. If you haven't tried journaling and your like me who is constantly is always in thought, give journaling a try! I promise you you won't regret it! 📝
On another note on writing, I also found a passion of online blog writing as well! In particular, blog writing for mine and Marcos' website, this website! Since I started this four years ago, it has helped me develop my creativity as a journalist by putting together well thought out content - stories and videos - for every post I have done and has kept my family and friends back in America up-to-date, while I am out venturing the world with my love!

Taking care of my Health
Since I started my grad program, there have been times where I may get four hours of sleep here and there at times, I'll forget to drink my water as I am commuting back and forth by train to my school, I'll forget to pack a lunch, so I'll opt to eating a Toastie (also known as grilled cheese in America), and between all of this running around I opt out of going to the gym.
So Marcos reminded me how sleeping, eating right, and exercising is so important and thanks to my Fitbit, it's my daily reminder of how much sleep I get or not get in a night and how much daily exercise I get in a day.

While tracking my sleep and fitness on my Fitbit, I have been trying very hard to stay on top of my goals by making sure I get the right amount of sleep and exercise in a day. And I have also been trying to eat healthier as I have not been on-the-go as much.
My Enjoyment of Reading
Another thing I highly enjoy doing that makes my mind and body happy is leisure reading - Marcos reminded me that I needed to get back into this as well. I specifically enjoy reading self-help/inspirational books.
I recently picked up Becoming (Michelle Obama's best-seller) because I have read so many positive reviews - but if any of you have suggestions of other self-help/inspirational books I should read, please comment below. 👇🏻👇🏻👇🏻
Our Faith in God
And last, but certainly not least is keeping the faith! Marcos reminds me in times of distress to keep the faith and not give up. I am so thankful to have found a man who is such a strong believer as am I. He prays with me before meals and even in times of distress.
Marcos constantly reminds me to stay positive and trust God. There have even been times where people have been hateful towards me and Marcos reminds me that I actually need to forgive these types of people, because they might be going through something and that may be why they might be treating me that way - that of course doesn't excuse their behaviour, but I need to be a forgiving person because that's what God would want me to do. I am only hurting myself by keeping in these negative feelings of that person.

"And do not forget to do good and to share with others, for with such sacrifices God is pleased."
- Hebrews 13:16
Another part of my faith in God is setting aside time to read and study my bible. This special time gives me hope, purpose, and helps me to have solitude, while also allowing me to focus on the good and positive things in my life. And by enabling this special time of reading and studying the bible, it helps me to get reconnected with God.
Life is hard and often quite messy. With God and my faith, honestly, it’s just easier and less messy! By truly trusting God, I can truly live and soar with purpose!
"I can do all things through him who gives me strength."
- Philippians 4:13
