Marcos and I finally went to the zoo! Being a person who loves animals, domesticated and undomesticated, I decided that I wanted to visit all of the zoo's in Brazil with my loving Brazilian man while we are in Brazil. The first zoo we visited was the zoo located in our city we live in, Parque Ecológico de São Carlos . It was completely free to go to this zoo. We were able to see some pretty amazing animals ranging from birds to a fierce jaguar.
it's a cat's world
I am going to have to start with the best animal we saw, Joe the jaguar. He was our favorite! I have never been that close to a wildlife animal before and he didn't mind coming very close to us. He seemed very relaxed and liked us being around to watch and look at him. He was a very gorgeous creature and I think he knew that. His fur was magnificent. I couldn't believe that he was right there in front of me just relaxing. Everyone around us was taking pictures of this magnificent animal as it continuously kept walking in front of the window. It was almost like he was showing off his beauty to us, which we all appreciated very much considering the black panther right beside him wasn't as very welcoming. | Joe the Jaguar enjoyed us observing his beauty while he took a minute to hydrate. When we first meet Joe the jaguar, the black panther was not in sight. Therefore, we decided to make another loop around to see if he was out after we got done seeing the rest of the zoo. Fortunately, when we did make another loop around the black panther was out. However, upon meeting the black panther we noticed he was not as friendly and inviting as Joe, the Jaguar. I noticed there were mud paw prints on the window in front of him. He was in his own zone drinking water from the pond and not paying attention to us whatsoever. |
Monkeying around
It is always fun to watch monkeys swinging around from tree branch to tree branch or just sitting there eating food and sunbathing in the sun. There was many different types of monkeys that we got to see. There were some very pretty monkeys and some other interesting looking ones. I seriously enjoyed looking at all of the different types of South American monkeys. | It was very fun watching these monkeys eat and be energetic. Click on the video above to see their enthusiasm. |
Selfie/fun picture time
There were times in our zoo exploring extravaganza that we had to stop and take fun selfies/fun pictures. I love my Brazilian man so much! He always goes above and beyond to show his love for me. I wanted to go to the zoo and he made sure that happened. I know that sounds like a child-like thing to do, but I just like that kind of stuff and the best part, so does he! We love savoring these fun memories with just fun raw photos. | Marcos: "Jessica, how did you like the zoo so far?" |
Birds flying about
We saw some pretty incredible South American birds. They were some of the most beautiful unique birds I've ever seen. I even learned how to communicate to one of the parakeets saying Arara, which is the birds name in Portuguese. We noticed that some of these birds could be very loving towards each other, while others chose to stay to themselves and relax. We got to see one of my favorite birds/animals, the owls, a swan protecting her eggs in her nest, birds flying out of their cages, and many of them are on the extinct list. We very much enjoyed looking at these gorgeous creatures. | Click on video above to take a look at these birds beauty. |
Bear with goggles
I felt like a little kid when I spotted the bear sanctuary. I ran over to it and loved that I saw one of the bear with goggles was laying on top of a tree stump. Before we planned on going to this zoo I saw pictures of this particular bear on their website and I told Marcos I could not wait to see these beautiful creatures. They are very much a Native South American animal. His distinctive features tell it all. So glad we were able to see these beautiful bears with goggles.
the end of the zoo extravaganza
It wasn't very conventional towards the end of our zoo extravaganza at this zoo. They didn't have this huge gift shop or anything. But it was still really cool how they had it set up. I got to try some yummy garapa (sugar cane juice) and cocada (coconut candy). I really enjoyed the Parque Ecológico de São Carlos zoo. | It was pretty cool to see how sugar cane juice was made.
