The Invitation Marcos and I were formally invited to Marcos' nieces birthday party. I love that his family already thinks of me as a part of their family. The invite was addressed to Uncle Marcos & Aunt Jessica. I just love it! I was very excited about officially meeting the rest of the family and the birthday girl. I have already "meet" the birthday girl and her family through FaceTime. Lara, the four year old, is actually in the process of learning English. She loves calling Marcos to FaceTime with us to sing The Itsy Bitsy Spider in English. Needless to say, I was ready to officially meet this part of the family face to face. The Arrival We were all very excited for the arrival in Brasilia. Marcos' family came from all over Brazil for Miss Lana's Hello Kitty Birthday Party: grandparent's, aunt's, uncles, cousins, sisters, and brothers. Birthday party's are a bit more extravagant in Brazil compared to America's birthday party's. At this particular birthday party everyone was dressed very fancy, even the little kids. There were even waiters serving lots of food and drinks. But I'll get to that in Part Three of The Brazilian Hello Kitty Birthday Party. Day 1: The First Night in Brasilia The view from Marcos' sister's (Melissa) home was amazing. I fell immediately in love with Brasilia. Melissa and her family live right in the middle of Brasilia. They are surrounded by malls, famous architectural buildings, delicious places to eat, and the best places to drink. Marcos and I went on our own adventure the first night we were there. All of the famous architectural buildings were lite up so beautifully. Brasilia is the capital of Brazil and is known for it's famous modern, boldness architectural buildings. There were also people singing and playing music on the streets of Brasilia. It really was the coolest and the most amazing sight I've ever seen. I was mesmerized. The Brasilia Drum Roll Not only did we get to venture off and were able to see some pretty amazing buildings during the night time, but we also got to enjoy some Brazilian entertainment on the streets. It really was the coolest thing to see something like this going on on the streets of Brasilia. There were most definitely some talented musicians playing all types of musical instruments: drums, flutes, whistles, xylophones, and meraca's. With the Carnival right around the corner, we will certainly be seeing more of this going on. The Brazilian's are getting into the Carnival Vibe. The Ponte JK Bridge The Ponte JK Bridge, words cannot describe the feeling going through and over this amazing beautiful bridge and looking up and seeing the amazing architecture work. In 2003 it was selected the most beautiful bridge in the world by Engineering Society of the State of Pennsylvania, USA. It was named after Ponte Juscelino Kubitschek, former president of Brazil, who is the main figure for his support in construction of Brasilia. It was designed by Alexandre Chan. JK is an an example of architectural boldness that lives up to the spirit of modern; it is the landmark of Brasilia's construction.
